China-Japan Workshop on Pavement Technologies (CJWPT) is an international symposium that presents the latest advancements and technologies on highway, road, and airfield pavements. The conference is held every two years and is co-organized by China and Japan. Since the 4th CJWPT held in Sapporo, Japan in July 2007, scholars and engineers of the two countries have made advanced achievements in pavement materials and technologies. The 5th CJWPT offers a platform for scholars and engineers to share best practices and innovative ideas among the fields of design, construction, and maintenance of road pavements and new materials. This symposium can promote mutual communication and pave the way for further collaboration. The conference covers a wide range of topics, including moving load deformation, particle size distribution, microscopic mechanics characteristics of air voids for porous asphalt mixtures, heat reflective coating on road surfaces, and the impact analysis of water-film on porous pavement to driving safety. Other topics include the modeling and optimizing of superelevation rates; development of vibration reduction pavement using rubber vibration isolators; optimum parameters and properties with age of CRAM foamed asphalt; and comparison of natural asphalt with ordinary asphalt in chemical properties and road performance. The symposium also features studies on the fatigue behavior of bituminous mixtures under repeated loading in low strain level; finite element analysis of asphalt concrete with computerized tomography identification; glistening asphalt surface course in highway tunnels; and research on the application of waste rubber in recycling asphalt mixture.
