China’s seal culture has a long and rich history and is considered one of the four traditional arts of China, alongside calligraphy, painting, and poetry. Seal engraving combines various art forms, such as sculpture, calligraphy, and seal cutting, and has a deep cultural significance that is highly respected among the Chinese people. In recent years, seal engraving has become a popular collectible investment. The first exhibition of the China Golden Seal Stone Award held at the China International Jewelry Fair in 2011 showcased over 206 high-quality seal engravings made from four of China’s most renowned stones: Shoushan Stone, Qingtian Stone, Changhua Stone, and Balin Stone. This exhibition was organized by the China Jewelry and Jade Jewelry Industry Association Seal Cutting Committee in collaboration with four Chinese regions. The purpose of the exhibition was to promote and celebrate China's unique cultural heritage.
